Monthly Archives: February 2017

So, it seems I forgot all about this blog thing!

Ok, I’m not exactly sure how I managed to go a whole year whitout posting a thing but there you go, it happened, and I can’t promise it wont happen again! As I get older more and more things seem to go on the never ending ‘to do list’ and then i misplace the list ;) lol! Any way, I shall try to remember what happened in my time away……

My last post ended on the forthcoming Winter Champs, and as per usual I had a fantatsic time meeting friends and competing Dino there. We placed 10th in a strong class in our PP Medum Open, so I was thrilled with him, especially as he tends to become a real introvert at the bigger shows. On the second day he was a little more tense and this resulted in some blips in our Advanced Medium, but as this level was still new to him I hadn’t expected to be up with the leaders, we were simply happy to be there in such good company.

What I do remember about 2016 is my bad luck continued with regards to Regionals. We qualified easily for the Medium Silver and I was really looking forward to my time in the ring. Sadly it didnt go quite to plan as my lorry broke down 20 minutes from the yard. By the time we had sorted transport to Keysoe I was due in, so we went in with no warmup and Dino was not happy (understandable), so on the final centreline I withdrew, and scratched it down to an ongoing bad year. This happens with horses, its never an uphill slope to stardom!!! We finished 2016 with Regional Qualification for both Medium Silver and Advanced Medium Silver in the bag, looking to 2017 to improve on our recent experiences.

Mean while Woodcroft Glamour found a lovely new home where she would have the chance to shine as a jumping horse. Honestly her new owner has done a wonderful job as I never thought she would have any scope over a fence, based on her lack of talent with polework! She has proven me wrong and is loveing not being a dressage pony lol.

Datum was also improving at home and even went to stay with Nikki Crisp for a few weeks. It was an experience for them both lol! He came back a little more worldly so here’s hoping he has a bright future.

2017 so far has been pretty uneventful, both boys are going well at home, and having cut down to two horses means I have more time for writing/judging/stewarding and attending a few training clinics. We have a busy spring/summer planned for both of them so fingers crossed our bad luck is over :)
